What works so well with green bean casserole is the creamy interior pairing perfectly with the crunchy texture on top. It’s such a nice balance and the French onions on top add the perfect salty balance.

Recipe FAQs and Notes
Can you use cream of mushroom soup in this recipe?
If you want to use cream of mushroom soup in this recipe, you can opt for that as well. I just prefer to use fresh mushrooms in a larger size for the texture and taste.
What cut of green beans work best?
This is up to you. I love to use any type of green beans and really don’t have a preference. Canned green beans or fresh green beans both work great.
How do you reheat green bean casserole?
Since this makes a larger serving size, you’re likely going to have a few leftovers. The easiest way is to reheat your serving in the microwave for about 30 seconds of time.
