Ingredients Needed
- 6 oz. sharp cheddar cubes
- Red grapes
- 3 – 3 oz. packages of various salames – divided
- 6 oz. Havarti cheese
- 1-2 cups green olives
- 3 oz. pepper jack cheese cubes
- 1-2 cups fresh cranberries
- ½ cup sugar
- Pretzel sticks
- 1 package sliced provolone
- Fresh rosemary
How to make Christmas Tree Charcuterie Board
- Using a large rectangular board, start assembling the tree.
- Leaving room at the bottom for the pretzel stick trunk (you’ll assemble that later), start by creating a 1-½ inch row of sharp cheddar cubes. This will be your widest layer as you build your tree.
- Next, add a row of red grapes above the cheese layer, slightly less wide.
- Next, add a row of salame (6 oz. or two different packages), folding the meat so that it stands up. You can slide them onto toothpicks to help hold in place if needed. Again, this row should be slightly less wide than the grape layer.
- Next, add a row of the Havarti cubes, again less wide than the previous row.
- Next, add a row of green olives, less wide than the previous row.
- Next, add another row of folded salame, 3 oz. or one package.
- Next, add a row of pepper jack cheese cubes.
- Then, sugar your fresh cranberries by wetting the cranberries, then rolling into the sugar. Place the sugared cranberries on the top of the board.
- Create the trunk of the tree at the bottom, centered, using the pretzel sticks.
- Using a star cookie cutter, cut out star shapes with the sliced provolone and place in various spots on the tree, placing a larger star at the top.
- Garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs around the outside edge of the tree and serve with crackers.
Recipe FAQs and Notes
Can you make a charcuterie board ahead of time?
You can but I wouldn’t make it too much ahead of time. Earlier in the day, or possibly even the day before would be more than enough time.
What else goes on a charcuterie board?
Meat, cheese, and fruit is typically the most popular but you can always add on nuts and veggies, too. There is always room for some chocolate sweets as well!
Why are charcuterie boards so popular?
I think it’s because people love to pick! This gives them the option to eat what they want when they want, and they don’t have to commit to anything if they don’t want to try it.
