Charcuterie, or graze boards, are my absolute favorite. I love putting together a gorgeous charcuterie board for the new season. This easy fall charcuterie board captures the fall season with fresh seasonal fruit, warm seasonal colors, and of course a mix of both sweet and savory delectables.

Ingredients needed for a fall charcuterie board

Below are some general guidelines for creating your own fall charcuterie board. But, remember the best part about creating a charcuterie board is the creation process itself! Feel free to add in any additional seasonal items on your board.

For a general rule of thumb, you’ll want –

  • 3-4 slices of meat per person – a variety of flavors and textures
  • 1-2 oz. of cheese per person – a variety of flavors and textures
  • Fresh seasonal fruit
  • Dried seasonal fruit
  • Assortment of nuts
  • Assortment of crackers, bread, or pretzels
  • Balance of sweet and salty items
  • Fresh herbs for color

Items for your fall charcuterie board

Specifically for your fall charcuterie board, some great seasonal items would be

  • Fresh apples, both green and red for color
  • Dried figs
  • Nuts – be sure to ask any guests if there’s a nut allergy
  • Add in dips such as caramel, Nutella, or honey would pair well with fresh apples

How to build a fall charcuterie board

  1. Start by selecting the right board for your spread. You can use large cutting boards, slate boards, or large marble or ceramic platters.
  2. Once you know how many guests you’ll have, you can begin choosing your meats. You’ll want 3-4 slices of meat per person, but also a variety of flavors and textures.
  3. Select 1-2 oz. of cheese per person, again choosing a variety of flavors and textures. I recommend a balance between soft and hard cheese and mild and robust flavors.
  4. Add in both fresh and dried seasonal fruit.
  5. Add in an assortment of nuts.
  6. Add in an assortment of crackers, bread, or pretzels in both shape and flavor.
  7. Begin assembling your board – think of your board as a blank canvas and let your creativity flow. I recommend starting with the larger items and then filling in from there.
