Gluten-free honey lime chicken wings
Honey and lime might be one of my favorite flavor combinations. Maybe my honey lime chicken thighs or my honey lime Mahi Mahi gave me away – but it truly is one of my favorite flavor combos – especially in the summer. It’s a sweet and tangy sauce that pairs perfectly with chicken or fish.
These honey-lime chicken wings are of course gluten-free and for this

Recipe FAQs
It depends on the size of your air fryer basket. However, you want to have the wings in a single layer inside the basket and not stacked. Most air fryer baskets can hold about 7-9 wings depending on the size of the wings and the size of the air fryer basket.
I do not recommend stacking the wings when cooking in an air fryer. The wings would cook unevenly and you will run the risk of part of the wing not fully cooking.
Yes, because there is no oil involved you can cook frozen wings in an air fryer. But, you will need to increase the cooking time by at least 5 minutes.
Yes! The air fryer will get the wings crispy without any oil frying!
Optional cooking methods for honey lime chicken wings
- Oven-Baked Chicken Wings – Place the wings onto a broiler rack, or place a cooling rack onto a baking sheet and place the wings onto the cooling rack. Place into the oven and bake for 40 minutes at 400 degrees F. When done, using kitchen tongs, individually dip each wing into the sauce and place back onto the cooling rack. Place the baking sheet back into the oven and turn the oven setting to broil. Broil for 3-5 minutes or until the sauce begins to thicken on the wings.
- Air Fried Chicken Wings – Place wings into air fryer basket and cook for 20 minutes, turning every 10 minutes at 400 degrees. When done, using kitchen tongs, individually dip each wing into the sauce and place back into the air fryer basket and cook for 5-10 additional minutes.
- Oil Fried Chicken Wings – In a deep frying pan, heat 2 cups of cooking oil over medium-high heat. I recommend using avocado oil. Place the seasoned wings into the oil. Fry the wings for about 10 minutes on one side, then turn and fry for another 10 minutes. Remove from oil and let set, then dip into the sauce and serve.
