These Doritos Pizza Rolls have all the flavors of your favorite taco pizza, rolled up into a fun pizza roll! This is a fun variation to homemade pizza recipes that are great for entertaining or a weeknight dinner at home.
Making homemade pizza at home can be a fun alternative for a weeknight or weekend dinner. For a fun alternative, sometimes we switch things up and make homemade pizza rolls instead! Be sure to read the recipe notes below as I’ve included a few helpful tips to make this recipe a success!
Ingredients needed
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 packet taco seasoning
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. water
- 1 – 13.8 oz. can pizza crust (I use Pillsbury)
- 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
- 1/2 bag Doritos – crushed
- toppings of choice
How to make Doritos Pizza Rolls
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef and then drain any excess grease. Add the taco seasoning and water, stir to combine, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- When ready to assemble, roll the pizza crust dough out into a rectangle. You don’t want to stretch it too far beyond its size when you initially roll it out of the can.
- Spread the seasoned ground beef across the entire pizza crust dough.
- Then, top with the shredded cheese.
- Next, top with the crushed Doritos. Note – you want to make sure you crush the Doritos well. Large pieces will make it hard to assemble. The smaller the pieces, the better.
- Starting at one end, roll the dough towards the other end until it’s completely rolled up like a log.
- Carefully slice the pizza log roll into about 1/2 inch sections and lay flat on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and serve immediately with your toppings of choice – sour cream, salsa, guacamole.
Recipe FAQs and Notes
Do I have to use canned pizza dough?
You don’t have to use canned pizza dough. However, I find it the easiest to use for a quick dinner option. Any raw pizza dough will work, but you may need to adjust the cooking temperature and time according to those package directions.
Recipe Notes:
- It’s important to keep the dough chilled until you are ready to use it. If the dough begins to soften at room temperature, it will be harder to work with. So, keep it chilled until ready to assemble.
- Crush the Doritos well. The smaller the pieces, the better.
- When slicing the pizza log roll, use a sharp knife. It will cut through the dough easier and help the pieces keep their shape. If the individual pieces lose their shape, simply roll them back together before placing onto the baking sheet.
- Don’t roll the dough out too thin. It should easily unroll into a rectangle shape right out of the can, and this is about the size/shape you want for the roll.
Can I reheat Doritos pizza rolls?
Yes! Store any leftovers in the refrigerator. When ready to reheat, simply pop them back into the oven at 400 degrees F. for 3-5 minutes, just enough to get them warmed back up. You could also reheat them in the air fryer, too.
