This simple yet gorgeous Valentine Charcuterie Board is great for a date night in with your love or for the whole family to enjoy! This fun holiday charcuterie board idea is beautifully color-coordinated while filled with sweet and savory treats!
Valentine charcuterie boards are a great way to show your family and friends just how much you love them – by feeding them an elegant charcuterie board filled with savory meats and cheese paired with decadent chocolate and sweets.
Ingredients needed for a Valentine Charcuterie Board
For this board, I would suggest the following –
- 2 soft cheese options to cut into heart shapes – Havarti, Wensleydale, Stilton, Camembert
- 1 round Brie
- 2 red fruits – strawberries, raspberries, cherries, grapes, pomegranate
- Raspberry, strawberry, or cherry preserves
- 2 meats – capocollo, prosciutto, salami
- 1 type of cracker
- A mixture of valentine candy and chocolates to fill in.
- small heart-shaped cookie cutter
How to build your Valentine charcuterie board
- First, cut your two soft white cheese options into heart shapes using a heart-shaped cookie cutter. If your cheese is in a rectangle brick, you’ll want to cut the brick in half lengthwise to thin each section before cutting out the hearts. If you’re using a round camembert, cut the round in half and then make your hearts. Set them aside.
- Next thinly, cut off the top rind of the Brie and cut into eight pieces. Then, place it in the upper right-hand corner/area of your board.
- Next, create a path with your red fruit (raspberries, cherries, or strawberries) from the Brie’s opposite corner leading up to the Brie.
- Then, begin filling in your board, starting with the crackers. Next, roll the two meat choices into rolls and place them onto the board with the heart-shaped cheese. I like to split them up into opposite sides of the board.
- Then, begin filling in the gaps with the remaining fruit pieces and the Valentine candy and chocolates. Remember, there’s no right or wrong way of building your charcuterie board – this is your art pallet!
- Lastly, top the Brie with the fruit preserves and serve immediately.
How to cut cheese hearts for your Valentine board
The key is to use soft cheese, but not too soft. I suggest a mild Havarti, Camembert, or Wensleydale. For this board, I used a Havarti and Wensleydale with cranberries for added red coloring. Then, be sure to slice the cheese in half lengthwise so that you’re cutting into 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick sections. Then, using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out your heart-shaped cheese.
How big should a charcuterie board be?
For this board, I used a rectangle board that was 11 inches x 14 inches. This tray would easily serve four. If you have a larger group, you might consider using a larger board, or a large 16 inch round board.
How early can you prepare a charcuterie board?
You can slice the cheese and any fruits the night before and refrigerate in an air-tight container overnight. You can also fold any meats and place them into a glass storage container to refrigerate overnight.
