Recipe FAQs
Can you cook frozen chicken in an air fryer?
Ideally, you want your chicken to be fully thawed. However, if they are still partially frozen you may need to increase the cooking time by about 5 minutes. Be sure to check the internal temperature to make sure it reaches 165 degrees F.
Can you overlap food in an air fryer?
Some foods you can, however, I would not recommend doing so when cooking chicken breasts. If they are overlapped they won’t evenly cook, so keep them in a single layer to ensure an even cooking time and so that all of the breading will crisp up nicely.
What if I’m cooking for more than just two people?
If you notice in my photos, due to the size of my chicken breasts, I could only cook two chicken breasts at a time. If this is the case for you, simply cook the first two then place them in the oven on warm just to keep them warm while you cook the other two. If you have smaller chicken breasts, you may be able to cook up to four at one time. If you have a larger family with smaller kids, you could use chicken tenders and cook a larger quantity at one time.
Alternative cooking methods
No air fryer? No problem! Below are directions for cooking in the oven.
- Prepare the chicken breasts according to the directions.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking oil.
- Place the breaded chicken breasts onto the baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, then flip and bake for another 10 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F. (thickness of chicken breasts may vary the cooking time)
- Then, top each breast with 1-2 Tbsp. of marinara and 1/2 Tbsp of shredded mozzarella cheese, turn the oven to broiler and broil until the cheese is melted.
