One of my favorite dipping sauces to use, especially in the fall season, is this maple aioli sauce. With its rich maple flavoring, it pairs perfectly with seasonal root vegetables like sweet potatoes and squash varieties. It also makes for a great dipping sauce for fries. I’ve also included a dairy-free option as well! It’s also a great dipping sauce to have with your Thanksgiving recipes!

Recipe FAQs

Is mayo and aioli the same thing?

Technically, no. They are both emulsions, however; true aioli must contain olive oil and garlic whereas mayo can use different types of oils. Homemade flavored varieties can be made with a mayo base.

Can aioli be made with mayo?

Yes, you can make aioli with a mayo base, or you can create your own by emulsifying an egg yolk and olive oil with a blender.

Is aioli dairy-free?

It depends on the specific recipe. Mayo-based aioli can be made with a dairy-free mayo, giving you a dairy-free aioli option.

  • The key to getting that rich maple flavor is to use pure maple syrup (sorry, no Mrs. Buttermilk).
  • If you want to try your hand at emulsifying your own aioli you’ll definitely want to grab an immersion hand blender. Plus, they save your wrist when whisking!
