Ingredients needed
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp. cumin
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 Tbsp. lime juice
- 1 cup chopped cilantro
- 1.5-2 pound thin-cut ribeye steak
- flour or corn tortillas
- Toppings of choice – pico de gallo, avocado, sour cream
How to make air fryer steak tacos
- Add the olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, salt, pepper, chili powder, lime juice, and chopped cilantro to a large plastic bag and mix to combine.
- Add the ribeye steaks to the bag and seal. Rub the marinade all over the steak so that it’s fully covered. Place the bag into the refrigerator and let marinate overnight or for at least four hours.
- When ready to cook, remove the marinated steak from the bag and place them into the air fryer basket.
- Cook at 400 degrees F. for 8-10 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the steak reaches the desired level of doneness. Tip: remove when the steak is 5-10 degrees below your desired doneness because the temperature will continue to rise while resting.
- Remove and let rest for 3 minutes.
- Slice, then chop the steak into small bite-sized pieces. This makes it easier to eat like a taco.
- Serve with either flour or corn tortillas and your favorite toppings!
Recipe FAQs and Notes
Should I put foil in the air fryer?
No, there is no need to cover the bottom of the air fryer for this recipe. You should also never cover the bottom completely as the air will need to circulate in order to cook the food.
Is air fryer steak good?
Yes! Cooking a steak in the air fryer will still yield a deliciously tender and flavorful steak. The marinade used in this recipe will also ensure the air fryer steak is full of flavor, tender, and juicy.
Can you put frozen steak in an air fryer?
I have never tried this and wouldn’t recommend it. Let your steak fully thaw before cooking.
